Registered Practitioners Initial Immunisation. (RPII)
Two day initial immunisation training for registered practitioners, 11th and xxth September 2024, 9.15am - 4.30 pm on Zoom.
Course delivery and duration.
This is a 2 day workshop 9.15am- 4.30pm aimed at registered nurses who are new to immunisation. It covers the PHE core standards for immunisation training.
Successful students will receive a certificate of attendance and will be required to complete a competency framework undertaken in their own place of work under supervised clinical practice. This will be undertaken by an experienced registered nurse/doctor working within their own area of work.
Aims of the training
To ensure that nurses and all health professionals involved with the delivery or promotion of immunisations are equipped with the competence and confidence to practice safely and effectively.
To ensure nurses are working in line with current DH policies and recommendations.
To facilitate a positive and proactive attitude to immunisation

A three hour training is intended for registered nurses/practitioners who have completed the basic immunisation training and/or currently vaccinators. This course provides information to enable all vaccinators to work in line with current NHS policies and CQC recommendations. The course includes a training pack, certificate of attendance, refreshments and supper or lunch. Places are limited so book early as these courses are very popular and due to high demand last year we have put on an additional training session in 2016
Full day update to include immunisation and travel vaccines is £100. This full day course which was over subscribed last year will enable you to keep updated with the current travel health issues and recommendations it includes a training pack, certificate of attendance, refreshments and lunch.

Health Care Assistants Initial Immunisation. (HCAII)
Two day flu, shingles, pneumococcal and B12 initial immunisation training for HCSW, Pharmacists and registered nurses who vaccinate adults only, on 5th and 10th July 2024, 9.15am - 4.30pm, on Zoom. Cost £273 includes posting of manuals
Course delivery and duration.
This is a 2 day workshop 9.15am- 4.30pm aimed at HCAs who have achieved level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Health and Social Care or General Healthcare and who are new to immunisation. This course incorporates practical experience on administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections. This course covers the PHE RCN core standards for immunisation training 2015.
Successful students will receive a certificate of attendance and will be required to complete a competency framework in their own place of work under supervised clinical practice. This will be undertaken by an experienced registered nurse/doctor working within their own area of work.

This 3 hour training is designed for HCAs who have undergone initial immunisation training and are currently administering influenza, and/or pneumococcal and shingles vaccines. It will fulfill the annual update requirement to enable HCAs to continue administering vaccinations. This course provides information to enable all vaccinators to work in line with current NHS policies and CQC recommendations. The course includes a training pack, certificate of attendance, coffee/tea and lunch at certain venues.

Health Care Assistants B12 & Shingles Training. (HCABT)
B12 competency training
Friday 13th Jan on Zoom
This is a 2 hour training aimed at HCAs who are currently vaccinators but does not cover the basics of immunisation. It is suitable for HCAs who would like to extend their practice to include vitamin B12. There will be a requirement to complete a competency framework under supervised clinical practice undertaken by an experienced registered nurse/doctor working within their own area of work. Tea/coffee provided.
Course aim
To ensure that all HCAs involved with the delivery of vitamin B12 injections are equipped with the understanding and ability to administer B12 safely and effectively.

Shingles competency training
Tuesday 12th April, 2.45pm - 4.45pm at Seminar Room, Southwick Health Centre, The Green, Sunderland. Cost £40
This is a 2 hour training designed for HCAs who are current vaccinators does not cover the basics of immunisation but will cover all the aspects to enable them to administer the shingles vaccine. There will be a requirement to complete a competency framework in the workplace under supervised clinical practice undertaken by an experienced registered nurse/doctor working within their own area of work. Tea/coffee provided.
Course aim
To ensure that all HCAs involved with the delivery of the shingles vaccine are equipped with the understanding and ability to administer this vaccine safely and effectively.

A full day training is intended for registered nurses/practitioners/doctors that have completed the basic immunisation training and/or currently vaccinators. This course is in addition to the initial two day immunisation training as it only covers travel health. This course provides information to enable all vaccinators to work in line with current travel vaccination policies and recommendations. The course includes a training pack, certificate of attendance, refreshments and lunch. Places are limited so book early as these courses are very popular.
